With freezers chock full of cookies from the South Texas parents, Cookie Cafe was able to open unencumbered from the recent snow storm named Jonas. Luckily, the storm hit on a Saturday and didn't affect classes but did offer an opportunity for frozen fun for the mids.

We are grateful that the new Commandant's wife Tracey, has joined us as an early morning helper, when our manpower needs (can one say that anymore?) are most critical. We welcome her involvement and are grateful for any support we receive in our efforts to bolster morale and a sense of community for the Regiment and the entire campus by extension.

South Texas parents would have been gratified to see the 600+ mids and staff stream into Land Hall to enjoy all the wonderful cookies Texas sent. We had a plethora of chocolate chip, which is probably our most popular offering, although it has been fun seeing all the different variety of cookies that have shown up in those wonderful boxes we receive.

One plebe, sporting a new haircut, mentioned how Cookie Cafe provides a comforting end to a long regimental and academic week. With a full class schedule on Thursdays, his visit to CC at the end of the day provides a quiet moment, according to this student, to relax and reflect that he has survived another week at Kings Point. His smile said it all. "Thank you for doing this for us" is heard often by the volunteers.

The fruit selection continues to rival the cookies for space on the mids' plates. We have been buying large quantities of bananas and delicious Cara-Cara oranges for Regiment and it's especially appreciated by those looking to maintain weight, like the wrestlers. Thank you, parents for donations that enable us to purchase large amounts of fruit. While we find that we must restrict the mids to one banana in order to have enough for our late arrivals, the students are very appreciative that we are able to provide a varied selection. Thank you mom, Lisa Pino for weekly selecting great pineapples and melons and cutting them up so nicely. (What would we do without Costco and BJ's???)
