The Band Company parents, who sponsored Cookie Cafe today, hit all the high notes. Cookies and pretzels sported seasonal colored icing and sprinkles. It was not hard to see that much effort and corresponding love went into the making of each and every treat.

It is not an understatement to say that most Mids staggered into Cookie Cafe last week. Apparently it didn't take their teachers long to undo the vacation the Regiment had just returned from, based upon the comments from the Midshipmen.

Already sleep deprived, they welcomed the smell of homemade goodness and gratefully accepted a cup of coffee or tea to ward off their yawns. With the advent of each trimester, we CC volunteers have no idea when the waves of students will file into Land Hall, but 458 visitors managed to remember that Cookie Cafe had started up again. When asked, more than one student and especially the plebes, voiced some amazement that they had survived the challenges of the previous trimester, only to return to Kings Point to take up the gauntlet again. We moms often tease the Mids that the administration and teachers stay up nights divining additional ways to torture the Regiment and more likely than not the Mids think that's just the case. But the stresses of KP are somewhat eased by the appearance of mom's cookies each Thursday in addition to the liberally doled-out hugs from our generous volunteers.

To our faithful bakers, we would hope that each Thursday you feel an unexplained warm feeling of joy at some point during the Cookie Cafe day. If so, it's origin is the happiness flowing to you from the Midshipmen of Kings Point. In their comments, "We love that you do this for us," the you in that sentiment is "YOU" the moms and grandmothers working alone in your kitchens, most likely late at night. Your contributions to each students' uplifted morale are legion. Thank you.
