Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina hopped into Land Hall to feast the midshipmen of the United States Merchant Marine Academy with Easter and Spring themed treats, from bunny cookies to birds nests filled with pastel candies.

Thank you to the moms and grandmothers who paused from their own holiday baking to send such wonderful cookies and candies. As one midshipmen said, "There are so many great choices, I don't know what to pick." It is no small task, when hosting your own holiday dinner preparations to divert attention to baking dozens and dozens of cookies and not be able to watch the students joyfully pile their plates with so many good things. Hopefully, through Lisa Pino's beautiful pictures, these faithful bakers see the Regiment enjoy the results of their gifts.

Kathy, mom of Brian '19, arrived at Cookie Cafe with shopping bags filled with jelly beans and chocolate eggs, which were distributed to each table in seasonal baskets. CC only happens through the concerted effort of many people. Any parent thinking of coming to Cookie Cafe will be warmly welcomed into the Thursday fold.

Last week saw what's becoming a familiar routine - coaches bringing recruited athletes to Land Hall on Thursdays. Besides trying to convince these young men and women to come to Kings Point based upon great academics and career opportunities, the coaches like to showcase Kings Point's heart as displayed by the efforts of the moms via Cookie Cafe. We also had a young woman, Micaela, and her granddad visit from Rhode Island. After they wandered into Land Hall and exchanged a few words, is was obvious that her lovely grandfather was favoring Kings Point over the other academies and hopefully this talented young woman was convinced too.

A blessed Easter to all those celebrating.
